Preferences Window

There are several panels in the Preferences window: Studio Details, General Settings, Email, Default Image Groups, High-Res Export, Supplier Preferences.

We recommend that you enter all Preferences data before you start using Photojunction, although this is not essential. However, if your Preferences are not completed…

  • Photojunction will use default settings where appropriate.

  • If, Photojunction needs mandatory information that you have not yet entered, it will ask you to do so before proceeding.

About General Settings

On this panel you need to identify the Image Editor (eg Photoshop CS3) that you want Photojunction to use.

You can also specify…

  • A “Default Saving Folder”. Photojunction will use this as a starting point when browsing or saving files.

  • A "Default Package Folder" if you're using Photojunction 1.22 or later. Photojunction will use this as the default location for saving packages for your client work.
  • An “Auto-Link” folder. If you place images such as your studio logo in this folder they will be available automatically to use in all Events.

  • Your Default Monitor Profile (see below).
  • Default slideshow settings (the amount of time each slide will display, and the time for transitions.

  • A different background colour for the Album Planning and event windows

  • The units you prefer (inches or millimeters).

Important: setting the default monitor profile

You can also specify your monitor profile on the general pane to dramatically improve the quality of your images when they're displayed in Photojunction. When you click on the Browse button, Photojunction will take you to the default colour profile location for your Operating System so that you can identify the active profile.

  • For Mac OSX:  HD : Library : Colorsync : Profiles : Displays

  • For Windows: C: / System32 / Spool/drivers / color

Note, this may not be where your colour profile is stored in practice! For example, on Mac users can specify a profile for their own account, which could be stored in the user's own user library.

To check which profile is in use on your computer, do the following:

  • On Mac, open Displays in System Preferences and click on Color

  • On Window, go to Control Panels / Displays, then click Advanced, then Color Management.

Once you've done that, copy and paste the profile name, search for the file name, note the path, return to Photojunction, click the Browse button and follow the path to select the profile.

Better safe than sorry! Ask for assistance if you need help.

About Email Settings

Photojunction needs to know your SMTP server address (eg smtp.photojunction.com) in order to send emails.
Leave the other fields blank unless your Internet Service Provider requires them.

About Studio Settings

These are your personal details (address, email, website etc).

About Supplier Settings

Enter here details such as your account number and certain album planning specifications for each of the Album Suppliers you have installed. You can also enter "regular references", which will be added to  all orders sent to that specific Supplier.

About Image Settings

You can sort images relating to an Event into “Groups”. When you set up an Event, Photojunction will set up your Default Image Groups in the Events window so you can use them to categorise your images. You can add, delete, rename and re-order your Default Groups, as well as specify the size of the low res proxies that Photojunction will create.

About Export Settings

The purpose of High-Res Export Settings is to manage and simplify the process of creating cropped, sized images and album layouts for printing. It does so by setting defaults so that Photojunction doesn’t need to repetitiously ask for information each time you create files. It works hand-in-hand with the Lab Settings File that you select (your Lab will have its own requirements, which you’ll also need to comply with). For details go to High-Res Exports.
