The Junction

Welcome to the Photojunction Team blog. We welcome your comments.

Announcements

You are currently browsing the archive for the Announcements category.

You may have noticed our email has been down for the past couple of days.

We’re glad to report that the problem has apparently now been fixed (a damaged cable) and we’re all back online. Fingers crossed!

Emails sent to us while the server was down may be a little delayed in getting to our inboxes but we’ll respond as soon as we can.

Our apologies again for the inconvenience. It’s a relief to be back on line.

We regret to advise that due to a line break outside our control our secure websites and email are down.

That means you can’t access your Queensberry account, Queensberry’s and Photojunction’s registration systems aren’t working and we cannot access your email. Your email should have been received but we can’t get to it: to avoid confusion please don’t resend it unless you don’t hear from us within normal service times once we’re back online.

It could be 24 hours before we’re back up.

Our apologies for the inconvenience. When we get more news we’ll post it here.

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve tried our hand at a few new webinars, including an ‘advanced Photojunction webinar’ you can watch online here.

They’ve gone really well, except for last week when Steve Jobs tried to battle us for the prime time slot. Turns out he’s got more fans than us, so we’ll be sure to check with him before scheduling webinars in future!

Back on the horse though and this week we reckoned it was about time we held another Intro to Photojunction webinar.

It’s a webinar for newbies where Danny will walk you through everything from downloading and installing the software, to designing and sending an order.

Here’s the details:

Thursday 4 February 11am (NZT)

It’s free to attend so come along, ask questions and find out what Photojunction is all about.

Hope to see you there :)

Cheers, Nigel

Just a quick note to let you know that Photojunction (and Queensberry) will be closed this coming Monday, 1 February (New Zealand time) due to a public holiday.

We’ll be back on board on Tuesday so have a great weekend and we’ll see you then!

Cheers, Danny

PS Lots of great feedback from Ian’s email – tell us what YOU think.

Hi All

Just quick note to thank you for using our software and to say Happy Holidays, and we hope you enjoy them – we will be.

We’re closing down from today the 23rd December to 5th January to enjoy our family, friends, bbqs, beaches, and hopefully fine weather.

See you on the other side and if you’re celebrating Christmas, check out Dylan’s Christmas record ;-)

Cheers
Danny

This will be our third release in three months – notice a trend?

The last two were betas adding the new features you’ve wanted and now this final builds on them to give a stable platform to start 2010.  So to jog your memory here are a few of our favourites…

Photojunction 1.32b (release notes)
Alignment got some serious attention (accuracy, stickiness, and clarity)
Centering got smart (wings, flips, and panoramic)
“Undo” got a speed boost (‘nuf said)

Photojunction 1.33b (release notes)
Start window got a makeover (uploads, blog, store and more)
Instant Slideshow got resurrected from Retro (play back while you work)
Creating albums from templates got an auto option ( templates + images = done )
Uploading got versatile (now you can re-upload full or partial orders)
Preferences got extended (for slideshows, instant slideshow & proof sheets)

These represent a lot of work on their own, but I’ve not mentioned so many other fixes and tweaks – feels like we’re getting somewhere.  These are virtually all your suggestions – it’s a good feeling to satisfy clients … but you already know that.  I’ll leave you with an email from an old friend, the kind we like to get.

Cheers
Danny

“To all the PJ dudes – I just found the ” Hide Used Images ” feature.  Most of our albums
have 100 plus images in them. I was the SOB that was begging Danny for years to
incorporate that feature.

It’s now twice a fast to use with templates.  The share and save templates option now
works 100 times faster too. It’s 99.9% there !!!!!”

v1.33b

It’s time to hand over the keys to November’s brand new beta – Photojunction v 1.33b.

It’s another biggy, so instead of trying to cram everything into one post, we’ll blog about these specific features over the next week or so…

  • Start Window – direct access to more functions
  • Smart Centering – The ‘Align to center’ button now thinks a bit harder about your intentions
  • Auto Flow – A simple automatic album creation feature using Template and Image Collections
  • Instant Slideshow – View a slideshow of an album design with the click of a button.
  • Smart Slideshow Preferences – Set your own defaults for Slideshow and Proof Sheets (including those for Instant Slideshows)
  • Re-upload – For Queensberry clients a new option allows you to re-upload your orders either in full or in part.

More to come. Don’t be a stranger.

Cheers, Danny

Last night we released PJ Remix version 1.32 beta.

We’re pretty excited about some of the improvements and we’ve already had some great feedback.

In this version we’ve focused heavily on refining current features. Alignment’s a big one…

We’ve added anchors (dots) to the alignment lines to indicate which apertures are perfectly aligned with each other.

Picture 3

And we’ve made the snap-to guides even stickier to ensure your apertures snap in to alignment from even further out.

You may have also noticed the red notification symbol above the Photojunction Store link on the home page. That’ll show you the number of new uploads to the Photojuntion Store since your last visit, so you’ll always know when there’s something new to check out.

What do you think about PJ Remix 1.32?  We’d love to know.

Cheers, Danny

Picture 1

This is an exciting day.

We’ve just released a new final version of Photojunction Remix (1.30) and in it, we introduce the new Photojunction Store.

Whether you’re a buyer or a seller, this has huge potential.

An ‘online marketplace’ may be a better name as the store enables you to buy and sell templates, actions and e-books – or whatever you think other photographers may be interested in.

Since we made Photojunction free our active user base, downloads and registrations have all jumped dramatically. Partnering with the Photojunction Store offers you a way to reach those masses, sell your products, and boost your income in the process.

It not an entirely new concept; if you’re familiar with iTunes or the Apple App Store for iPhones then you’ll know how an online store works. The potential is huge.

You won’t need to be a ‘rock star’ to get noticed, we’ll feature items each week that stand out to us. And there’s a spot on the home page for recently added templates to give newbies some great exposure.

Selling an item is easy – clicking the big Sell button inside the store allows you to outline the details of your item, upload it and send to us for review.

Picture 3

When it’s been approved and we’re ready to release it in the store, we’ll let you know.

From there we look after everything else. At the end of the month, or when your account exceeds USD$50, we’ll pay out any sales you’ve made, less our 30% commission for the sale.

To check out the Photojunction Store and start selling your work, download the latest version of Photojunction (version 1.30) and click the Photojunction Store button on the home screen.

pjhome

We strongly recommend you read our terms and conditions before you start buying or selling. You’ll find them in the Licence Agreement.

We’ll be posting more information, videos and updates about the Store over the next couple of weeks here on The Juncton so keep an eye out.

Let us know what you think. We’re always keen for feedback and ideas.

Cheers, Danny

Remix Final 1.30 is the combination of six months hard work, four beta releases and invaluable feedback from our loyal community… It’s the most comprehensive, intuitive and effective version of Photojunction Remix weve ever released. We hope youll think so too.

But first up, here’s a quick review of the major features first released in the beta releases since 1.25.

Remix beta 1.26: A feature packed release which included text functionalityimporting PSDs as templates and images, and proof sheets.

Remix beta 1.27: The game changer – new interface, managed workflow and built in FTP to deliver complete, accurate, valid orders first time. Heres a short video.

So what’s brand new in 1.30?

The Photojunction Store

This one’s a biggie so it gets it’s own blog post. Check out the Photojunction Store here.

A new problem reporter

Photojunction’s new Problem Reporter displays details of any problems it detects with your order which may need to be resolved before moving on to the Export Layout or Send Order stages of the process. Double clicking on an item will take you directly to the issue that needs attention.

Picture 4

Two types of problems are displayed by the Problem Reporter :

1. Issues that must be corrected before you continue (marked with a red ‘X’) – this is something that your album supplier or lab needs resolved before they can produce your album, such as information or a cover image that’s missing.

2. Warnings, which you can choose to ignore (marked with a yellow ‘!’) – for example alignment issues that Photojunction thinks you may like to check before moving on.

Warnings can be ignored by ticking the ‘Ignore Warnings’ box in the bottom right corner of the Problem Reporter once all ‘must fix’ issues have been resolved.

Picture 6

If you’d rather fix up issues as you go, click the Export layouts tab from the top navigation to display the Problem Reporter window. Hitting the ‘Refresh List’ button will update  the list of problems as they either appear or are corrected.

Picture 8

Enhanced image sorting

This one’s an enhancement to a feature we introduced in beta release 1.26 – manually sorting images.

Photojunction can now manually sort images in each of your Groups and Collections, so if you’ve wanted to sort images differently in your slideshows than in your albums, for example, you now can. And you can go back to sorting by file name or time and date whenever you like.

Finally, if you’re a Queensberry client you might like to check out this Queensberry Connects post about how to send a design order using the latest version – simplicity itself.

Cheers, Danny
