You may have noticed our email has been down for the past couple of days.

We’re glad to report that the problem has apparently now been fixed (a damaged cable) and we’re all back online. Fingers crossed!

Emails sent to us while the server was down may be a little delayed in getting to our inboxes but we’ll respond as soon as we can.

Our apologies again for the inconvenience. It’s a relief to be back on line.

Super Bowl

I especially miss the States at this time of year. For a young football player, there was something magical about Super Bowl parties.

But I’ve moved on – a new love… Rugby.

Enjoy the hot wings, pizza and beer.

Cheers, Danny

Seen this? It’s called an iPad ;)

From my geeky point-of-view (with a Photojunction bias of course) I’m gutted it doesn’t run OS X, and therefore OS X apps….

What a shame. Would’ve been cool to see Photojunction run on the tablet.

Here’s hoping they open it up a little in future.

Anyway, back to work to focus on ‘low lying fruit’ (a favourite saying of mine).

Cheers, Danny

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve tried our hand at a few new webinars, including an ‘advanced Photojunction webinar’ you can watch online here.

They’ve gone really well, except for last week when Steve Jobs tried to battle us for the prime time slot. Turns out he’s got more fans than us, so we’ll be sure to check with him before scheduling webinars in future!

Back on the horse though and this week we reckoned it was about time we held another Intro to Photojunction webinar.

It’s a webinar for newbies where Danny will walk you through everything from downloading and installing the software, to designing and sending an order.

Here’s the details:

Thursday 4 February 11am (NZT)

It’s free to attend so come along, ask questions and find out what Photojunction is all about.

Hope to see you there :)

Cheers, Nigel

If you missed yesterday’s advanced Photojunction webinar, grab your popcorn because a recording is now up on our Vimeo channel.

Click here to watch the latest ‘Advanced Photojunction webinar’

We tweaked the format to last week’s session and covered several broader Photojunction features in detail:

- Templates (organising your collections, purchasing, creating your own, drag and drop)
- Portable Projects (using Photojunction in a team and/or over a network)
- Slideshows (videos of your images and albums, really fast)
- Plus a time of Q&A

Thanks also to Christine from our support team who joined us to help answer your questions during the webinar.

Keep an eye out here on the Junction, and our Facebook page for details about next week’s Photojunction webinar.

Cheers, Nigel

UPDATE: This recording has been removed and replaced by an updated version of our Advanced Photojunction webinar available for viewing here.

Last week we jumped in the deep end and kicked off this year’s Photojunction webinars with a brand new one – Tips, Tricks and Power Features.

This is a follow-up to our newbie webinar and a little more advanced, so we assumed attendees had (some) experience with the software.

In it, we covered lots of tips, tricks and power features including:

- Working with PSDs and JPEGs
- Sorting and selecting images
- Alignment
- Productivity features
- Working with clients

Plus I answered plenty of questions along the way.

It’s a little over an hour and our first crack, so be gentle ;)

Cheers, Danny

PS we’ll update this version with a tidier recording shortly.

Instant slideshow

I’m not gonna lie, Photojunction’s slideshow creator is pretty quick. You can easily create a slideshow of an album design, including transitions and background music, in under a minute.

But get this. In 1.33b we’ve introduced an even quicker slideshow feature. Lightning quick. Click of a button quick!

The new Instant Slideshow feature creates a slideshow of the album design you’re working on, and displays it on your second monitor if you have one (if not, it’ll display on your primary monitor).

That’s very handy if you’re working on a design with a client and want to show them a quick preview of how it’s looking.

Right click on any layout in the Preview Palette and select ‘Play full screen slideshow’…

Or select the ‘Instant Slideshow’ option from the Menu item.

Photojunction’s new feature is a timesaver.

It auto creates an album from a selected template collection, and populates the apertures with images from a selected image Group or Collection.

Before we move on, a disclaimer… Auto Flow is a simple feature. There’s no clever algorithm built in to choose and place images in a deliberately coherent order. We’re leaving some of the creative stuff up to you ;)

You’ll find the Auto Flow option by clicking the ‘More’ button in the Event Window. Just click the ‘Create album from templates’ option and you’re away.

Picture 2

Photojunction will ask you to choose a Template collection (all templates must be either single or double sided), and the Group or Collection you’d like it to pull the images from.

Picture 3

Then voila! Photojunction will do all the grunt work and leave you to tell the story.

As well as giving uploads their own tab on the Start Window we’ve introduced two “re-upload” options for Queensberry clients: ‘Full’ and ‘Partial’.

The Full Re-upload option, as the name suggests, uploads the entire order to Queensberry (the complete bundle - layouts, proxies, reports, everything).

Picture 5

The Partial Re-upload option allows you to re-upload just part of the order.

Here’s an example. Say Queensberry spotted some sensor dust on a couple of your images in layouts one, two and three. Instead of re-uploading the whole bundle, you could make the adjustments, and re-send just those three layouts.

Not only does it make life easier for you if you need to re-send parts of an order, but it makes keeping track of what you’re sending easier too.

Cheers, Danny

Where do I find templates? In the Photojunction Store.

You’ll find the link to it on the Photojunction home screen (bottom right corner in case you missed it).

Picture 3

You can search for templates by size (14×10), orientation (Horizontal) and style (simple), or by the template designer if you know who they are.

Here’s a bit more info about the Photojunction Store. And if you’re interested in selling your own templates, here’s a blog post worth reading.
